How does a teams payroll work?

Like does it work by annual salary, is that how a teams payroll works out? I dont really know how does it work out?

Payroll is an annually budgeted factor in projecting how much money a company will spend in a year. These budgets are updated quarterly because predictions will always changed based on many factors. So team's owners and board members will get together and figure out how much they want to spend on payroll and hire accordingly. Paychecks are giving in whatever manner they see fit and the spending begins...
